Soundbars tend to sound better when they’re wall mounted because of this.

Soundbar heightĪim to place it within a foot of the height of your ears when you’re sitting in your normal TV viewing position. This helps the sound reflect more evenly towards your TV viewing position for a more balanced and immersive experience. Ideally, your soundbar should have equal space to its left and right edges, so sound disperses evenly around the room. You can put it inside your TV cabinet as long as it doesn’t cause distracting vibrations. Make sure it’s not too close up against a wall, as this will result in boomy bass. Others are wireless and can be placed elsewhere, but generally it should be within 10 metres of the soundbar. If your soundbar has an external subwoofer, it might need a cable connection. To save space, you can fix the soundbar to the wall, but you'll need a separate bracket. Place both on a flat surface, such as your TV stand if there’s room. If possible, place your soundbar directly in front of your TV and watch head on for the best results. If you have any issues with your soundbar, see our expert guide to common soundbar problems.

You just have to pick the one that is best for you.Like any other speaker system, soundbars benefit from a bit of extra time and care when you first set them up. In my case, because the car was already up there in mileage and probably not worth any less way or another, the used option made sense. You might end up with missing options and higher stated mileage. The used option is the cheapest but a bit of a crap shoot. Costs a bit but you are back with correct mileage, installed options, etc. Xemodex, assuming a successful rebuild as there have been a few bum ones, is a good middle of the road option. The dealer option is the most expensive, least "problematic" and the worst option. Of the three options I would characterized them as follows.

I can find no where in VIDA2011D where it is possible to update the mileage, period, let alone update so that all shared values agree (if someone know where this is in VIDA and how to do it, please let me know). I know in my case, the DIM had 82K higher kms on it and that mileage was updated onto the CEM. Others, including myself, state that the DIM and the CEM will both show the HIGHER of the two mileages once the DIM is installed and the system allowed to stabilize. That is, some who have done a used DIM state that the installed used DIM shows the mileage that came on the DIM even if it was lower than what is stored in the CEM. In the case of a used DIM, there is no established result. The procedure for installing a new DIM includes steps that retrieve the actual mileage and load that onto the new DIM.

In some cases, such as 12/24 hour clock setting, anyone with a VIDA/DiCE can set those up for you as they are settings not requiring a software load. If these features are desired then that requires a visit to a dealer or indy that has access to the Volvo mothership and its software loads. In my case, I lost my trip computer, the clock was set to 12 hour and a couple of other small things. No software is required for the basic functions, but the optional features may or may not work depending on what might be stored in the firmware of the used DIM. So assuming you have gotten a good used DIM (keep in mind that used DIMs can also have the bad solder joints that your current one is suffering from) and it has matching numbers, it will work. As he stated, without the software a new DIM is not going to work.Īs far as a used DIM, it is "plug and play" IF (note that this is the big IF) the used DIM has matching software and CPU numbers which are what the 4 labels on back represent. In addition to basic functions, these software loads (there are more than one dependent on installed options) also add features such as the trip computer (assuming you have the other hardware such as the appropriate stalk installed). A new DIM requires a software load to be operational.
